Rebuilding a Clio 16s engine block: points to watch
Rebuilding a Clio 16s block requires rigorous metrology. For the cylinder head, use our dedicated sheet: Clio 16s metrology sheet.
Essential checks – Clio 16s engine
- Big end (crankshaft side): check the diameter, itsovality and surface finish. An out-of-tolerance diameter promotes spinning of the bearings on the Clio 16s.
- Intermediate shaft: check clearances and bearings. Its wear is a frequent cause of insufficient oil pressure.
- Cylinder head: full metrology (flatness, guides, seats, camshaft, etc.) recording the measurements on the sheet.
To replace during a cylinder head rebuild:
- Intake valves: Clio 16s
- Hydraulic tappets: Clio 16s / Williams F7P-F7R
Tip: record each measurement (bores, seats, clearances) on the metrology sheet to validate tolerances and document the rebuild.
