Fitting tips – Clio 16s engine rebuild
When rebuilding your Clio 16s engine, it is essential to carry out a full metrology check. You can use our dedicated sheet: Clio 16s metrology sheet.
Bearing fitting instructions
- Fit the bearing dry in its housing, properly degreased and free of any deposits.
- Lubricate the bearings with engine oil using a silicone brush.
Avoid using oil cans: mishandling could scratch the bearing surface. - Tighten the bearing caps to the specified torque then check that the crankshaft rotates freely.
- If rotation is stiff or locked: loosen one cap at a time then test again to identify the cap at fault.
- This problem often comes from aswapped bearing cap (turned around or exchanged with another cap).
