You need to carry out the recommended metrology available on our site (2 dimensions must be checked). More simply, if your oil light comes on at idle when hot but the pressure is correct under load, the pump is unlikely to be the cause. This behaviour usually comes from out-of-spec metrology.

Oil pressure results from resistance to flow. Excessive mechanical clearances (connecting rod bearing, crankshaft bearing, oil pump bushing) or a high oil temperature are the most common causes of low pressure. The pump flow also plays a part. Is it worth fitting a spring on the Clio 16s oil pump relief valve?

How can I tell if my Clio 16s oil pump is faulty?

Il faut effectuer la métrologie recommandée disponible sur notre site (2 côtes sont à vérifier). Plus simplement, si votre voyant d'huile s'allume au ralenti à chaud mais que la pression est correcte en charge, il est peu probable que la pompe soit en cause. Ce comportement provient généralement d'une métrologie non conforme.

Fitting tips

Check the free rotation of the moving assembly.
Avoid applying too much gasket sealant: it can break off and lodge in the oil pump pickup strainer.
Tightening torque of the pump: 2 to 2.5 daN.m
