Fitting tips – Clio Williams engine rebuild

When rebuilding your Clio engine, it is essential to carry out a full metrology check. You can use our dedicated sheet: : Clio 16s metrology sheet.

Bearing fitting instructions

• Fit the bearing dry in its housing, properly degreased and free of any deposits.
• Lubricate the bearings with engine oil using a silicone brush.
  Avoid using oil cans: mishandling could scratch the bearing surface.
• Tighten the bearing caps to the specified torque then check that the crankshaft rotates freely.
• If rotation is stiff or locked: loosen one cap at a time then test again to identify the cap at fault.
• This problem often comes from aswapped bearing cap (turned around or exchanged with another cap).
