The 77 mm GS700 R5 Turbo cylinder liner does not require machining of the liner seats in the engine block. Installation is carried out just like with an original liner. This is the advantage of this displacement: it allows an increase without any real machining constraints.

Why GS700 cast iron for our R5 Turbo cylinder liners?
In 2007, Mespiecesauto took on the challenge of producing reliable GS cast iron cylinder liners. At the time, almost 20 years ago, pseudo “GS cast iron” liners prone to cracking were very common. The advertised standard was often GS800. However, after several laboratory tests, it became clear that these parts were not compliant.
Our audits with various foundries confirmed that it is very unlikely to certify GS800 on a cylinder liner of this thickness. The classification includes several grades (GS600 / GS700 / GS800), each linked to a specific metallurgical matrix. In the case of GS800, the matrix must be 100% pearlitic, which requires fast and uniform cooling. However, on a thick cast cylinder liner blank, the thermal gradient between the outside and the inside prevents this criterion from being achieved at 100%.
This is why Mespiecesauto introduced the GS700 grade. This grade allows an additional 5% tolerance in the matrix, making it possible to certify the material without any loss of strength.
For almost 20 years, our cylinder liners have been produced in this grade. Their mechanical strength is extremely high and they can safely withstand a pressure of 2 bar relative pressure / gauge pressure (3 bar absolute pressure).
