Rear Axle Mount Specifications and Installation – R5 Alpine

Reproduction of rear axle mounts for R5 Alpine and R5 Alpine Turbo

We reproduced these rear axle bushes for the R5 Alpine and R5 Alpine Turbo in 2008, following a general unavailability of the original parts.

The original R5 Alpine Turbo rear axle brackets carry the references 6001000183 and 6001000182 (type R122B).

The bushes located in the black metal section of the brackets must imperatively be voided: this allows a slight controlled flexing of the assembly. As the elastomer is practically incompressible, it is essential to allow it a degree of mechanical freedom. Otherwise, the stresses will not dissipate, eventually leading to failure in another area of the suspension.

The elastomer hardness we use is compliant with the original equipment specification. A mounting that is too rigid, such as 80 or 90 Shore, would cause premature destruction of the bushes.

The two independent metal sleeves are not voided, just like on the original part, and were not available separately from the manufacturer.
