Peugeot 505 Turbo Injection
The Peugeot 505, unveiled in 1979 and styled by Pininfarina, is the brand's last big rear-wheel-drive saloon. At the end of 1982, the 505 Turbo Injection became its sporting flagship.
Under the bonnet, the 2,155 cc N9TE engine, derived from the block designed by Georges Martin for the Chrysler 160, received a Garrett T3 turbocharger and Bosch electronic injection to deliver 150 hp. From 1984, the adoption of an air-to-air intercooler raised output to 160 hp.
In the autumn of 1986, Phase 2 moved to 180 hp: the 505 Turbo then reached 210 km/h and rivalled the best European grand tourers. The most demanding customers could even opt for the 200 hp PTS Danielson kit, offered from 1985.
Comfortable, balanced and robust, the 505 Turbo combines the qualities of a great long-distance car with the temperament of a sports saloon. Its sound, playful rear-drive chassis still makes it an endearing car to drive today.
Built in 22,580 units until 1989, and also Peugeot's spearhead on the American market, the 505 Turbo Injection has become a sought-after youngtimer winning over a new generation of enthusiasts.
