12 rings, to fit 4 pistons of the Renault 21 2L Turbo, J7R752 engine. (anti-friction treatment, see description)

The oil-control ring is a 3-piece ring. The advantage of this 3-piece ring is in particular its central part with an expander (the "spring" part), as it can easily take specific shapes and compensate for a deviation in cylinder geometry, which is not possible on a one-piece ring as it is too rigid. (see the photo of the expander for an idea of the deformation possible without breaking… of course in a cylinder this comes down to hundredths of a millimetre, but it remains impossible on a standard one-piece ring)
