Mespiecesauto GS cast-iron liners: reliability proven since 2007

In 2007, Mespiecesauto set itself the challenge of producing GS cast-iron liners that were genuinely reliable. At the time, nearly 20 years ago, pseudo 'GS cast iron' prone to cracking was commonplace. The advertised standard was often GS800 but, after several laboratory tests, these parts turned out to be non-compliant.

Why is GS800 rarely relevant for a thick liner?

Our audits with various foundries confirmed that it is very unlikely to certify a GS800 on a liner of this thickness. The classification distinguishes several grades (GS600 / GS700 / GS800), each associated with a metallurgical matrix. For GS800, the matrix must be 100 % perlitique, which requires rapid, uniform cooling. However, on a thick liner casting, the outer/inner thermal gradient prevents this criterion from being met 100%.

Our technical choice: the GS700 grade

That is why Mespiecesauto introduced the GS700. Cet indice tolère une légère marge (≈ 5 %) dans la matrice tout en guaranteeing the mechanical strength required for a thick liner, with no compromise on durability.
